From Friday afternoon, KRS and land register checks will be unavailable as Ministry of Justice systems undergo work

From Friday 16 October from 16:00 until Monday 19 October until 6:00, the Ministry of Justice’s IT systems will be unavailable, including the KRS (National Court Register), land registers (księgi wieczyste) and the National Criminal Register (Krajowy Rejestr Karny). The ministry explains this is due to planned maintenance work.

The break will last 62 hours and cover the entire weekend. The ministry announced the date in a statement on the gov.pl website on 28 September. Earlier, on 23 September, the Department of Informatisation and Court Registers sent a letter on the matter to courts. Courts are publishing it on their bulletins, e.g. the District Court Gdańsk-Północ.

What will stop working

According to the ministry’s statement, the following will be unavailable, among others:

  • the National Court Register (KRS),
  • land registers (Księgi Wieczyste),
  • the National Register of Indebted Persons (Krajowy Rejestr Zadłużonych),
  • the National Criminal Register (Krajowy Rejestr Karny),
  • the Register of Pledges (Rejestr Zastawów),
  • the Court Registers Portal (Portal Rejestrów Sądowych),
  • the Tożsamość System, i.e. the accounts used to log in to some services.

The department’s letter to courts contains a longer, numbered list that also covers internal systems, such as the intranet and the employee portal. Bankier.pl, reporting on the statement, says 25 systems serving citizens will be switched off. Among them are ePłatności, the Electronic Acknowledgement of Receipt (Elektroniczne Potwierdzenie Odbioru), the Court and Commercial Monitor (Monitor Sądowy i Gospodarczy), Free Legal Aid (Nieodpłatna Pomoc Prawna) and the Electronic Simplified Payment Order Procedure (Elektroniczne Postępowanie Upominawcze). The ministry published the full list in its statement on gov.pl.

The restrictions will also affect the mObywatel app. As the Rynek Zdrowia portal reports, citing a statement from the Central IT Centre (Centralny Ośrodek Informatyki), the “Land registers” and “Data in KRS” services will not work during this time. The app’s other functions are not covered by the break notice.

Since July 2025, logging in to electronic land registers has been possible only through the Tożsamość system, as shown in the notice on the EKW website. Shutting down this system may therefore also hinder access to services that are not formally on the list.

Who is affected

The notice states that the work is of a maintenance nature. In materials for courts, the ministry uses the term “conservation work” (prace konserwacyjne). The ministry did not provide details of the scope of the work or whether it will finish before the scheduled time. It apologises for the inconvenience.

The break will affect private individuals, businesses and professionals who use the registers daily: notaries, attorneys, legal advisers and bailiffs. Bankier.pl points out that checking a business partner in the KRS and the status of a land register before a transaction will be difficult.

What it means

If you need an extract from a land register, a KRS excerpt or a certificate of no criminal record, do it before Friday at 16:00. Alternatively, you can wait until Monday 19 October after 6:00. This also applies to checking debtors in the National Register of Indebted Persons and to matters requiring login through the Tożsamość system.

The weekend falls at a time when some people handle formalities related to buying property or registering a company. Statutory deadlines, e.g. for submitting documents, have not been changed in the ministry’s statement. People for whom timing is important should contact the relevant registry court or a notary.
