On 6 October, shortly after 12:00 noon, a tragic accident occurred at the Port Miejski in Wrocław. A drunk train driver struck a 68-year-old security guard, who died on the spot.
Course of the Tragic Incident
The accident happened during routine shunting of carriages by a locomotive on the grounds of the Port Miejski, at ul. Kleczkowska. The driver operating the train was under the influence of alcohol – a breathalyzer test showed 0.54 per mille.
The 68-year-old served as a security guard on the port grounds and was on the tracks at the time of the incident.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Emergency services and police, together with a prosecutor, arrived at the scene immediately. Despite the rapid intervention of medical rescuers, the man’s life could not be saved. Police announce a detailed explanation of the circumstances of the incident, including compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Witness interviews have begun. It is not yet clear why the victim was on the tracks during the train’s manoeuvres.
