Shocking history from Wrocław shocked Poland. Stanisław Szczęsna, godmother of Tomasz Komenda – a man wrongly sentenced to 18 years in prison – has been dead since December 2023.
Her mummified corpse was only discovered now, covered in a sheet in the bathroom of her own apartment. The case reveals the outrageous negligence of neighbors, administrations and police.
Last seen in December 2023
Neighbors last saw Mrs Stanisława in December 2023. A few months later, insects and unpleasant fetor appeared in the stairwell. Residents reported an administrative problem, but this one ignored requests for intervention. "Nothing happened for a long time," the witnesses report.
Son of helpless, police without action
In May 2025, the son of the deceased, Grzegorz Szczęsny, reported his mother missing to the police. Along with the administrator and locksmith, he entered the apartment, but he was not allowed to search the premises thoroughly. "They told me to leave immediately," he recalls. PoliceShe didn't check her apartment, despite the report. Reason? "If the administration was inside, this place is probably abandoned".
Discovery during eviction
Only on December 8, 2025, a cleaning company, rented to empty an indebted apartment, entered the bathroom. There, under the white sheet, was a mummified corpse. The eviction and cleaning of the premises in 2026 revealed a gruesome truth. The cause of death is not yet known – the autopsy is ongoing.
Mother Thomas Commanda's words
Teresa Klemanska, the mother of Tomasz Komenda, has no regrets. ‘On such death But she did not deserve to lie in the bathroom on the floor for two years..." – she said in a conversation with the media. Stanisława Szczęsna was a close person of the command family, supporting them in difficult moments after the acquittal of Thomas.
The matter raises outrage and questions about service efficiency. Why didn't the police react sooner? Why did the administration ignore the signals? The investigation is ongoing.
