The tragic accident in Ziębice shook all of Poland. On December 21, 2025, a young couple died in a railroad crossing, orphaning a two-year-old daughter. Months have passed, and the hornets still fail – residents are afraid of another catastrophe.
What happened in the Coldies?

On December 21, around 11:00 a.m. at Przemysłowa Kia Street with a young married couple entered the Prague-Gdynia relationship train. The impact force was enormous – Iwona and Krystian died at the scene. PKP PLK confirmed: fixed toads raised, signaling failed.
The witness reported on TVN: "I thought it was a dream. The car just ran into the tracks." The Public Prosecutor's Office and the State Railway Accident Investigation Commission have launched an investigation. Initial tests showed sensor malfunctions.
Repairs after tragedy – promises without effect?

PKP PLK reacted quickly. After the accident, the old sensors were dismantled and new ones were installed. Train speed was raised from 20 to 60 km/h, signaling passed the test with the track.
However, on March 19, 2026, the inhabitants again alarmed. The picture on the network shows the car before the crossing, the red lights flash, the train drives – and the hornets open! This raises questions: were the repairs superficial?
Residents complain about chronic failures. "Like in an old watch – it works a week, then it stands" comments one of them in local media.
Why are the Toads still failing?
Category B pass has an automatic system, but older sensors often let go. Experts point to maintenance negligence – similar incidents have occurred before .
Local authorities are announcing meetings with PKP.
