Zygmunt Solorz Dismissed as Chairman of Cyfrowy Polsat

Major change at Polsat! Zygmunt Solorz has been unexpectedly removed from his post as president. What happened to the media empire, and who will take the helm after its legendary founder?

Behind the Removal of Solorz

22 July 2025 marked a turning point in the history of Cyfrowy Polsat. By decision of TiVi Foundation – the main shareholder controlling over 70% of votes in the company, Zygmunt Solorz lost his position as chairman of the supervisory board. The event surprised not only the market, but also employees and many industry observers.

At the same time, the role of president was entrusted to Andrzej Abramczuk, an experienced manager previously associated with Netia. Daniel Kaczorowski, a lawyer and long-time adviser to the group, became chairman of the supervisory board. The changes also covered the other key companies within the Polsat empire.

Main Reasons Behind the Leadership Change

Reports of a conflict within the Solorz family had been growing louder. Behind the decision to remove Zygmunt Solorz and the personnel changes lies a long-running dispute with his children over succession and control of TiVi Foundation.

Family Dispute and Court Intervention

  • In recent months, Solorz removed his children – Tobiasz and Piotr – from the supervisory boards of group companies, which triggered a wave of protests.
  • A court in Liechtenstein, where TiVi Foundation is registered, appointed a guardian and suspended part of Solorz’s powers to appoint members of governing bodies. The guardian was in fact one of the main initiators of the changes.
  • According to the foundation, the official aim of the reshuffle is “improving oversight and protecting the group’s assets.”

What Next for the Polsat Plus Empire?

Zygmunt Solorz’s removal shows that even the best-built empire is not immune to family tensions and legal and formal pitfalls. The Polsat case is an excellent lesson for both large family businesses and investors – succession must be carefully planned, and internal disputes can shake the stability of even powerful brands.

Market and Investor Reactions

The news of Solorz’s removal triggered an immediate reaction from investors. Cyfrowy Polsat’s shares fell noticeably, showing that changes at the top create uncertainty about the company’s future. In such moments, the experience of the new managers and the way the transformation is carried out will be crucial.

What Does It Mean for Viewers and Customers?

Polsat’s customers are unlikely to notice changes in everyday services right away. In the longer term, however, it is worth watching which new directions the group takes under Abramczuk and Kaczorowski. Will we see a new chapter for Polsat Plus, or rather stability and protection of existing values?

The removal of Zygmunt Solorz, a legend of the Polish media market, marks the beginning of a new era for Polsat. It also shows how important a clear succession policy is, and how crucial it is to prepare for unexpected twists in family business.
