Early Monday morning, in the southern part of Moscow, there was a bomb explosion in the car, resulting in the death of a high-ranking Russian army officer, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarwarov. The incident occurred in Jasienevska Street, Moscow, when General Sarwarov was on his way to work. According to a statement from the Russian Federation Investigation Committee, the bomb was planted under the vehicle and the explosion was strong enough to cause the immediate death of 56-year-old military. The General served as Head of Operations Training Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia and participated in military operations in Ukraine.
The Russian authorities immediately launched a murder investigation, treating the incident as an act of terrorism. "The possibility of participation of the Ukrainian Special Services is one of the main lines of investigation" is stated in the official communication.
