On a short film (about 19 seconds) Rampal sits in a comfortable chair inside a glass cabin equipped with air conditioning. The cabin protects him from heat and dust. His feet are sticking out. Confessors take turns, bow down, touch their feet, and kiss them.

There's a long line in the background. Some commentators have also noticed a donation vault placed nearby or inside the structure.

Who is Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj?

Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, also known as Rampal Dass claims to be an incarnation of the saint Kabir.

Sant Rampal (born 1951 as Rampal Singh Jatin) is an Indian spiritual leader associated with Ashram Satlok in Harian. He was in prison for over 11 years. In 2014, police clashed with his supporters in the ashram of Barwala. Several people died, including women and infants. In 2018, he was sentenced to life for murder and other crimes related to those events.

In April 2026, the Supreme Court of Punjab and Hariana suspended his sentence and released him on bail. He has since returned to public activity. Earlier, in May 2026, the media showed him walking around the ashram in the company of portable coolers, which followed him by people from the surroundings. The new cab is another degree of "comfort".

Why does this cause such reactions?

Critics say plainly: it is a combination of individual worship, religious naivety, and modern convenience. The leader sits in the cold, and hundreds of people stand in the heat to kiss his feet. For many it is an image of inequality and peculiar power.

Supporters protect him differently. They emphasize that Rampal is over 70 years old and that the heat in India can be extreme. They claim that making him comfortable is a sign of respect, not a fanaberia. Some of them also point to social activities of ashram – free meals, marriages without dowry or drug action.
