Juan Pedro Franco, a 41-year-old resident of Aguascalientes in central Mexico, died on December 24, 2025 from kidney infection. In 2017, he went to the Guinness Book of Records as the heaviest man in the world, weighing about 595 kg at the time. Franco has struggled with extreme obesity since childhood, which prevented him from functioning normally – for years he did not get out of bed.
Thanks to bariatric operations and a rigorous diet, by 2023 he managed to lose weight to about 260 kg, which was a huge achievement. Despite progress, health complications proved fatal – he died in a hospital in his home state. His story inspired many, showing the fight against obesity, but also warned against its effects.
