The US Department of Justice released shocking surveillance footage from the Hilton hotel in Washington on Thursday evening. It shows the moment gunman Cole Allen runs past a Secret Service checkpoint during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The video is of much better quality than earlier versions that circulated online. It has not been enhanced by artificial intelligence – confirmed by RMF FM correspondent in the US, Paweł Żuchowski, who was the first to publish the footage in Poland on the X platform.
The footage shows an armed man with a long weapon rushing into a room and then running out of it. A police dog’s clear interest in the attacker is also visible – the animal reacts to his presence twice. Seconds later, Allen is detained by officers.
The Secret Service firmly stresses that its agent was not shot by a colleague (so-called friendly fire), but by Cole Allen. Earlier, there were doubts as to whether the attacker had fired a shot at all.
The footage has caused a huge stir – both among security experts and ordinary internet users. Questions are being raised about the effectiveness of security measures at such an important event attended by President Donald Trump.
These are further very concrete pieces of evidence in the case of the assassination attempt that took place in recent days. The case is developing, and the FBI and the Department of Justice are leading the investigation.
The video is available on social media and is quickly becoming one of the hottest topics in the US.
