Another installment of the MBA Diploma Trading scandal at Collegium Humanum. This time, a well-known cardiologist was to pay over PLN 10 000 for his Master of Business Administration without taking the required classes and exams.
What was revealed?
According to the Health Market, doctor Specialist in cardiology was to buy an MBA diploma as part of the so-called "fast path". Collegium Humanum has for a long time been accused of selling diplomas without actual education – it was enough to pay the right amount and the diploma was ready.
The case is part of a larger investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office, which examines the entire system of trade in postgraduate diplomas and MBAs at this university. Earlier, it was reported that similar practices concerned politicians, businessmen and public figures, among others.
Reactions and consequences
Collegium Humanum has been under the scrutiny of media and law enforcement for months. The university defends itself, claiming that it met all formal requirements, however D.A. has different views and allegations of falsifying documentation and misleading students and the labour market.
A well-known cardiologist has not made a public comment yet. If the charges are confirmed, he may face criminal liability for using a false document.
Broader context
The scandal at Collegium Humanum showed huge gaps in the postgraduate education system in Poland. MBA diplomas purchased "for shortcuts" were used to build careers, promotions and create the image of business experts.
