On Wednesday, an accident occurred in Balczew – a tractor with a tanker pulled off the road and rammed a single-family house.
What happened?

Around 4:00 on Tuesday, 9 September, 70-year-old driver John Deere tractor carried a tank filled with manure. For reasons not yet established, the vehicle suddenly pulled off the road, first ramming the fence and then hitting the house wall. Inside there were residents – these were moments that could have ended in tragedy. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Emergency services and police came to the scene and helped the victims. The condition of the building required immediate evacuation – house not suitable for habitation. The injured driver was taken to the hospital, although according to the findings he was sober. The police stopped his driver's license – the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
The damage to the house proved to be so severe that the building was unfit for habitation. Everything happened literally in a few seconds – householders mention with disbelief that they were very lucky.

Neighbours and residents Balcheva stress that this is the first such a dangerous event in the area in years. Many of them became involved in helping out – some supported the evacuated families, others helped secure the destroyed building.

The causes of events involving agricultural machinery are often twofold:

- Human errors due to fatigue or distraction
- Difficult weather – slippery surface, limited visibility
In the case of Balchev, the police did not detect the presence of alcohol in the driver for this moment – further research is to explain any doubts.
