A fierce duel and a great return – Iga Christmas in the 3rd round of Wimbledon
Christmas, set with number eight, had to work hard to advance to the third round of Wimbledon. On Thursday she defeated American Caty McNally 5:7, 6:2, 6:1, although the start of the match did not announce an easy victory.
Tough start and quick reaction
The match started promisingly for Polish women – she quickly took the lead 4:1. However, McNally, who knows Iga from junior high, took advantage of the moment of her leader's weakness and made her losses by winning the first set 7:5. Christmas made a lot of unforced mistakes, and an American played bravely, often entering the net and changing the rhythm of exchanges.

McNally was no longer able to keep pace – Iga won further games 6:2 and 6:1, finishing the match with service ace.
"I knew that I had to be more precise from the beginning of the second set. I was just trying to improve the game and I'm glad it worked" - she summarized the Christmas meeting.
