Police officers from Kalisz City Police Department have made a big success in the fight against drug crime. During several simultaneous actions in Kalisz and in the Opole Voivodeship, they detained three people associated with the illicit trafficking of psychoactive substances and secured nearly 55 kilograms of various drugs – amphetamines, methamphetamines and ecstasy tablets. The estimated value of the goods taken over exceeds PLN 1.5 million.
During the search, the officers also found liquid intermediates needed for the production of drugs and specialized equipment used in the chemical factories – stirrers, pills, electronic scales and a welding machine. In addition, one of the detainees was exposed to gas firearms and ammunition for which he did not have the required permits.
Possible consequences
The Kalisz District Attorney's Office has launched an investigation into this matter. Three men aged 30, 32 and 45 were charged. A 30 - year - old resident of Kalisz will be responsible for producing and attempting to administer significant amounts of psychotropic substances, for which he is facing up to 20 years in prison. A 45-year-old boy from the Opole Voivodeship has heard allegations covering, among others, the attempt to grant significant amounts of drugs, possession of instruments and precursors for production and illegal weapons – for which he may be facing a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment. 32-year-old resident of the Zachodniopomorskie voivodship will be brought to justice for possession of psychotropic substances and has police supervision applied and ban on leaving the country.
The court applied provisional detention to the two most serious suspects for three months. The effective action of the Kalisz police has significantly weakened the drug structures operating in the Greater Poland Voivodeship and neighbouring regions, emphasizing the determination of the services in the fight against drug crime.
