Who Was Katarzyna Stoparczyk
Katarzyna Stoparczyk was one of the most recognizable radio personalities in Poland.
She was known for her genuine warmth and her remarkable ability to talk with both children and adults.
She created cult programs on Trójka, the Polish Radio’s second channel, including „Dzieci wiedzą lepiej” („Children Know Better”), „Zagadkowa niedziela” („Puzzling Sunday”), and most recently the program „Myślidziecka 3–5–7” on Radio 357.
Besides her work in radio, she hosted television programs, wrote children’s books and directed theatre productions.
Tragedy on the S19 Expressway
The tragic accident occurred on September 5, 2025, shortly before 3 p.m., on the S19 expressway in Jeżowe (Podkarpackie Voivodeship).
According to officials, two cars collided. Two people died, including Katarzyna Stoparczyk, and three others were injured. As the police reported, the incident happened before the exit to a service area.
The journalist was returning from a festival in Stalowa Wola, and the next day she was due to perform at the Women’s Congress in Katowice.
Her death caused a wave of grief in the journalistic community and among listeners.
Radio 357, with which she had been most recently associated, published a moving statement: „In her programs she had an extraordinary way of talking with children, and she reminded adults of their childlike sensitivity”.
