Dramatic events unfolded this morning in Stara Wieś near Limanowa. A shooting broke out in a single-family house, leaving two people dead and one seriously injured. Police are conducting a large-scale manhunt for the armed perpetrator. Residents of the region have received an urgent RCB alert.

What happened in Stara Wieś?
At around 10:30 a.m., emergency services received a report of gunshots at a single-family house in Stara Wieś (Limanowa County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship). On arrival, officers found three shooting victims. Unfortunately, two of them – a 31-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman – died at the scene. The third victim, a woman about 73 years old, was taken to hospital in serious condition.
According to unofficial information, the victims are the suspect’s closest family. A small child, who was not injured, was also present at the scene.
Police manhunt and emergency response
After the shooting, the perpetrator, a 57-year-old man, fled the scene, initially driving a blue Audi A4 estate with registration number KLI 22662. Police found the car near the scene of the crime, suggesting the man may have escaped on foot toward a nearby forest.
Maximum police resources have been deployed, including units from Kraków and police counter-terrorism officers. Police helicopters are also searching the area. Police are publishing an image of the wanted man and urging residents to exercise particular caution and report any information to the emergency number 112.
Statement and RCB alert
The Government Security Centre (RCB) sent an urgent SMS alert to people in the voivodeships of Lesser Poland, Silesia and Subcarpathia. The text of the warning:
“Attention! A 57-year-old man is wanted for murder. Wearing a blue sweatshirt, jeans, light-coloured shoes. He may be carrying a firearm. Be careful. Seen in Limanowa County”.

Police say the man sought is 57 years old and may be wearing a blue sweatshirt, jeans and light-coloured shoes. He is considered dangerous and is likely armed. According to unofficial information, the man is a hunter and knows the surrounding forests very well, which may make him harder to apprehend quickly.
