A shocking tragedy near Zielona Góra: a 46-year-old truck driver died in hospital after three dogs attacked him in the forest during a short walk.
Dramatic Attack in the Forest Near Zielona Góra
The tragedy happened on Sunday, October 12, near the MOP Racula rest area on the S3 expressway. The truck driver, 46-year-old Marcin from Puławy, had stopped for a break during his journey. He decided to use the free moment to go to a nearby forest to pick mushrooms. There, three large dogs that had escaped from a nearby shooting range unexpectedly attacked him.
The man managed to call the emergency number 112. When rescuers arrived at the scene, he was already in critical condition. With torn wounds to his legs and arms, he was transported to the University Hospital in Zielona Góra.
Fight for Life and a Tragic End
Doctors immediately began fighting for his life. The 46-year-old underwent several serious surgeries, but his condition remained extremely critical. He also suffered from hypothermia, as he had lain in the forest for a long time before help arrived. Despite the enormous efforts of the medical staff, he died on Wednesday morning.
As hospital spokeswoman Sylwia Malcher-Nowak said, this was one of the most severe bite cases ever seen at the facility. His partner told the media that Marcin was strong and athletic, but he had no chance against three dogs.
Investigation and Outrage Among Racula Residents
The case is being handled by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office (Prokuratura Okręgowa) in Zielona Góra. According to spokeswoman Ewa Antonowicz, investigators are establishing why the dogs got out of a private property. According to local sources, the dogs belonged to the owner of the nearby shooting range.
Residents of Racula are shocked and demand consequences for the animals’ owner. As they stress, this was not the first case of dog aggression in the area. Two years ago, a woman and a child fell victim to a similar attack.
