Leszek Gierszewski, founder and longtime president of Drutex, one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of windows and doors, has died at the age of 75.
A visionary businessman’s biography
Leszek Gierszewski was born in 1950. He began his business career in the 1980s, founding Drutex in Bytów in Pomerania. He started out producing fencing wire and mesh, and over time expanded into windows and doors made from PVC, aluminium and wood. Under his leadership, Drutex became a global player, employing thousands of people and exporting its products to more than 40 countries. In 2025, Gierszewski ranked 22nd on Forbes magazine’s list of the richest Poles, with a fortune estimated in the billions of złoty.
Business was not his only passion. Gierszewski was also an active patron of sport. He supported Polish football, including clubs such as Lechia Gdańsk, where Drutex was a sponsor.
