What happened?
On Tuesday, 29 July 2025, a tragic bus accident involving a group of Polish tourists occurred near Marsa Alam in Egypt.. A mother and her 7-year-old son were killed, and three other Poles were injured and required medical assistance. The information was confirmed by Polish MFA spokesperson Paweł Wroński.
Details of the investigation into the accident
On Wednesday, 30 July 2025, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Wroński held a press conference on the tragic accident involving Poles in Egypt. The spokesperson said that among the fatalities are a mother and her child, while three other Polish citizens were injured – two people were hospitalised (one seriously injured, the other with general bruising), and a third person suffered an orthopaedic injury but did not require hospitalisation. Wroński assured that the injured Poles are currently not in danger.
During the press conference, the spokesperson noted that a Polish consul has travelled to the scene, and remains in contact with the victims’ families, Egyptian services and tour operator representatives. The consul is gathering all necessary information and cooperating with the Egyptian prosecutor’s office leading the investigation. The organisation of medical transport for one of the injured is also being considered
Egyptian investigators and Polish diplomats are conducting an intensive inquiry to determine the causes of the accident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the bus was travelling at high speed and most likely lost control of the vehicle – there are also suggestions that the cause could have been a tyre burst or driver error. The vehicle overturned on the roadside.
How was aid provided to the injured?
- The injured were immediately taken to a hospital in Marsa Alam.
- Two Poles are hospitalised; one of them suffered serious injuries (including a pelvic fracture and severe chest trauma).
- A third person suffered orthopaedic injuries but did not require hospitalisation.
- The Polish consul and tour operator representatives are in constant contact with the families, services and Egyptian prosecutors leading the investigation.
Who are the victims and injured?
According to current reports, the fatalities are 41-year-old Anita K. and her 7-year-old son. In total, five Polish citizens were travelling in the minibus; three of them were injured – a 37-year-old woman and two men aged 40 and 44. The most seriously injured is the 44-year-old.
It is worth paying attention to safety when travelling abroad and choosing trusted carriers where the technical condition of vehicles and compliance with regulations are a top priority.
