A 15-year-old Boy Scout from Lower Silesia is dead. The boy died during a night job at Lake Osno. The case is handled by the D.A. and police, and the camp was immediately interrupted.
The Dramatic Final of the Night Scout Trial
The 15-year-old lost his taste. At the Boy Scout camp in Wilcze, today around 1 a.m., a 15-year-old was supposed to test the Boy Scouts to a higher degree. The rehearsal was in the middle of the night. The boy was supposed to swim across the lake, but at one point he disappeared underwater. His body was fished a few hours later at 5:30 from a depth of about 2 metres. The witness hearings are ongoing. The Keepers were sober. A Boy Scout camp consisting of 11 camps is held on the grounds, including 717 Boy Scouts.
The event occurred last night with 23 24 July 2025 in Wilcze, in the district of Wolsztyński, during the Scout camp of the Union of Scouting of the Republic. According to preliminary findings, a 15-year-old tried to gain efficiency and was to swim across Lake Osno and then light a fire on the other bank.
The keeper and the water rescuer were present on the scene and supervised the test. Both have already been detained to explain the circumstances of the tragedy. The research showed they were sober..
Tragedy
- The task began around 1:00 a.m.
- The teenager entered the water in a complete uniform, including heavy shoes.
- While swimming, he disappeared under the surface and did not come out.
- The caretakers immediately began a rescue and called the service.
- Numerous fire brigades, including water and dive rescue groups equipped with sonars and drones, arrived.
- The boy's body was found around 5:30 a.m., 20-30 meters from the shore, at a depth of about 2 meters.
Initiation
Investigators immediately detained the guardian and water rescuer – none of them have heard the charges yet. The D.A. announced an autopsy, and the police are questioning witnesses. Preliminary analyses confirm that safety and reinsurance recommendations have been applied, however the circumstances of the night trial and the accident itself need to be checked in detail.
Psychological assistance and support
Camp was immediately canceled. All participants and the family of the deceased were provided with psychological assistance. The Union of the Scouts of the Republic has declared mourning. Words of support and condolences came from representatives of the authorities and the Scouting community from all over the country.
Security in Scout Camps

During this year's summer holidays, 11 Boy Scout camps were operating, with over 700 Boy Scouts participating. Over 1,100 young people participated in the region throughout the season. Rescue operations are conducted regularly, but such a tragic event took place for the first time.
