A mass food poisoning outbreak occurred at the five-star Ephesia Holiday Beach Club hotel in the Turkish resort of Kusadasi. As many as 54 people were taken to hospital, including 7 foreign nationals.
Tourists complained of severe stomach ailments, nausea, abdominal pain and high fever. Some of them required intravenous drips.

In its statement, the hotel said that no irregularities had been recorded over the past 72 days and declared its full cooperation with the authorities. The test results are to be made public.
What is known so far?
The poisoning was linked to meals eaten at the hotel’s all-inclusive buffet. Sanitary services and police immediately carried out inspections of the kitchen, the buffet and the hotel’s water system. Food and water samples were taken for laboratory testing.
Fortunately, there is no information about any fatalities, and the condition of the hospitalized people is stable.
This is not the first such case
Food poisoning at all-inclusive hotels in Turkey unfortunately happens regularly, especially during the holiday season. Tourists often complain of stomach problems after meals from buffets.
