On Monday morning, a dramatic passenger balloon accident occurred in the centre of Zielona Góra. The machine belonging to the Aeroclub of Lubuska Land caught a 30 metre apartment block at Chrobry Street near the railway station, and then fell onto the street.
There were three women in the basket. At the time of the collision, a 28-year-old pilot fell out of the basket and fell on the roof of the building. Despite the immediate rescue of the fire brigade and medical teams and long-term resuscitation, her life was unsuccessful. The woman died at the scene.
The other two passengers remained in the basket. After landing the balloon, they left him on their own and were transported to the hospital. Their condition is stable and life is not at risk.
At the scene, all the emergency services of the D.A. police and President of Zielona Góra Marcin Pabierowski immediately appeared. The street has been secured and traffic in the area is limited. The investigation is conducted by the D.A. and the State Aviation Accident Investigation Commission. The causes of the accident are not yet known, among others, the weather conditions of the technical condition of the balloon and the course of flight.
The event was recorded by witnesses and quickly circulated social media causing a huge stir among residents. Hot air balloon flights are a popular tourist attraction, but such tragic incidents in the urbanized area emphasize the importance of following security procedures.
The city authorities provided support for the family of the deceased pilot. We'll keep you updated on the progress of the investigation.

Jagoda pursued her passions as an aircraft instructor. She also flew as a fire fighter pilot. She had a lot of aviation experience and shared this experience with others.
Last year Jagoda won the title of Polish Women's Champion at the XI Women's Balloon Championships in Nałęczów — We will remember her for her passion and cordiality, and above all for her broad smile and love to fly.
