On Tuesday evening in Warsaw’s Wola district, a dangerous attack took place – a Ukrainian citizen stabbed a Pole with a knife and attacked a woman accompanying him.
What happened in Wola?
At around 8:00 PM, an argument broke out between three people in front of a shop on Okopowa Street. During it, a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked a 39-year-old Pole with a dangerous tool, wounding him in the abdomen. The man was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. Unfortunately, that was not the end – the assailant also struck a 38-year-old woman standing nearby.
Police officers from Wola arrived at the scene very quickly. Just one hour after the incident, they detained the perpetrator. According to findings, at the time of detention he had nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body.
Investigation and charges
Officers immediately began actions aimed at clarifying the circumstances and motives of the incident. The perpetrator has been charged with two offences:
- Bodily injury lasting longer than seven days (Art. 157 §1 of the Criminal Code)
- Impairment of a bodily organ lasting less than seven days (Art. 157 §2 of the Criminal Code)
In recent months, several high-profile violent incidents have occurred in Wola. However, most of them are isolated and result from individual conflicts or the intoxication of those involved. The Warsaw police remind:
- Every crime is reported and investigated,
- The injured Pole received immediate medical assistance,
- The perpetrator will answer for his actions in court.
