A 24-year-old man attacked three employees of a pharmacy on ul. Galla in Kraków with a knife on Friday, 30 October, in the morning. The assailant was detained, and the women were taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.
What happened in the pharmacy
The incident took place on Friday at around 8:15 a.m. in one of the pharmacies on ul. Kronikarza Galla. According to Senior Assistant Inspector Jakub Mirocha of the Kraków Municipal Police Headquarters, as quoted by Interia, the man came to the pharmacy with a hand wound. One of the pharmacists wanted to help him. While she was dressing the wound, the man allegedly became „increasingly aggressive” and attacked her with a sharp object.
The two other employees rushed to their colleague’s aid and were also wounded. According to Radio Kraków, the attacker held a knife to one of the women’s necks. Her colleagues were to help her get free, lock the man inside the building and call the police.
Condition of the injured and the arrest
A police spokesperson said all three women were wounded with a knife, but their injuries „are not serious”. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment. Radio Kraków reports that the wounds are cuts and that the women’s lives are not in danger.
A patrol that arrived at the scene subdued and detained the 24-year-old. The man also required medical attention for his hand wound. After being treated, he was taken to hospital. According to RMF FM, the attacker is a Polish citizen.
Discrepancies in early reports
Initially, the media reported two injured women. Later information from the police and editorial teams refers to three injured people. Some reports also mention that the attacker began wounding himself. The police spokesperson did not confirm this.
Police are conducting explanatory proceedings and establishing the exact circumstances. According to RMF FM, the man explained his behaviour in an irrational way. At the time of publication, police had not disclosed a motive, any charges, or whether the 24-year-old was under the influence of alcohol or other substances. As a detained person, the man is presumed innocent.

The suspect is in police custody, and there is no information about a threat to local residents. The pharmacy on ul. Galla may be temporarily unavailable due to police activities. Charges and the prosecutor’s decision should be known after the detained man is questioned.
