From September There will be significant increases in the prices of disposable cigarettes and e-cigarettes in Poland in 2025, which is the consequence of the amendment of regulations on excise duties and regulation of the tobacco market.
That's the end of cheap e-cigarettes.
The government introduces strict restrictions on the sale and use of e-cigarettes. Since 1 July 2025, it is prohibited to sell e-cigarettes and spare containers to people under 18 and to prohibit their smoking in workplaces and other public spaces (schools, stops, restaurants). The ban also applies to e-cigarettes without nicotine.
E-cigarettes, which today costs around PLN 20-35, from September 2025 can cost even around 70-90 zł, which is the result of a significant increase in the excise duty on e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
In addition, as part of the excise duties on tobacco products, the price of traditional cigarettes packages is expected to increase by 25% on average in 2025, reaching around 20-21 zł, with further increases from 2026 to 2027, which means prices up to 27 zł For the package. Excise on smoking tobacco and cigars and cigars will also be raised.
Experts warn that such high prices and restrictions can, however, contribute to the development of an illegal cigarette and e-cigarette market, which poses a risk to the effectiveness of regulatory action.
Is e-cigarette an appropriate alternative to ordinary cigarettes?
The current generation is the first to use e-cigarettes on a large scale, meaning that we do not yet have full knowledge of the long-term effects of their use. E-cigarettes, also called electronic cigarettes or vaporizers, have become popular in the last decade as an alternative to traditional smoking. Although initially seen as a less harmful option, scientists and doctors continue to study their effects on health.
Scientists are conducting observational and experimental research, but results will only be available after many years when the present generation reaches the age in which possible long-term consequences will be revealed.
