People receiving 800+ who change their bank account must submit a new application with the new account number. ZUS reminded on Thursday, 8 October, that it has 30 days to process it.
According to the ZUS statement cited by the PAP news agency, the new application should be submitted „well in advance”. The office stresses that formalities should not be left until the last moment, as it has 30 days to process the application.
How to change your account number
Opening a new account alone is not enough. The new application must include all required data and the new account number. Once processed, ZUS will automatically change the payment method for the benefit, and the change will be visible on the eZUS portal.
The 800+ application can be submitted only electronically: via eZUS, the mZUS app, the Emp@tia portal or online banking. ZUS pays benefits cashlessly into the indicated account in Poland. People living in another EU or EFTA country may receive them into an account held in that country.
Benefit period and deadlines
800+ is granted for the period from 1 June to 31 May of the following year. The current period ends on 31 May 2027. Applications for this period could be submitted from 1 February. Submitting them by the end of June guaranteed payment from 1 June; after that deadline, the benefit is due from the month in which the application is submitted.
ZUS also reminded parents of newborn children of the rules. An application submitted within three months of birth entitles them to a benefit with back payment from the child’s date of birth. After that period, 800+ is due from the month in which the application is submitted. The same three-month deadline applies to taking a child into care and to adoption.
The benefit is PLN 800 per month for each child up to 18 years of age, regardless of family income. It is primarily available to the mother or father if the child lives with them. The right also belongs to, among others, actual and legal guardians, foster parents and those running family children’s homes.
What it means
If you plan to change banks, submit an application with the new number before closing your old account. If you apply right before the payment date, the money may still go to the old account or arrive late. After sending the application, check the confirmation of the change in your eZUS profile. The new application should not be treated as applying for an additional benefit; it serves only to update payment details.
