A new benefit period of the Family 800+ programme began on 1 June 2026 and runs until 31 May 2027. Most parents will still receive the full PLN 800 per child, but many people will face an unpleasant surprise.
Key changes:
1. Shared custody = PLN 400 instead of PLN 800 If a court has ruled on shared custody of the child (the child spends a comparable amount of time with both parents), the benefit is split in half. In practice, this means that both the mother and the father will receive PLN 400 per month per child.
2. New benefit period \u2013 an application is required The benefit is not extended automatically. To receive payments from June, applications had to be submitted by 30 April 2026 at the latest. Those who applied later may face a gap in payments, or the benefit will only be granted from the month in which the application was submitted.
3. Stricter rules for foreigners From 1 June 2026, new non-EU/EFTA foreigners must demonstrate professional activity in Poland in order to receive 800+. This applies to people legally residing in the country who have access to the labour market.
What about indexation?
In 2026, the government decided not to raise the benefit. The amount remains at PLN 800 per month per child.
The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) reminds that applications for 800+ for the new period can be submitted only electronically \u2013 via the ZUS Electronic Platform (PUE ZUS), the mZUS app, or online banking.
Parents who have shared custody or are involved in court proceedings concerning custody should check particularly carefully how much they will receive in June.
