Facebook's AI error took the opportunity to earn millions of creators. Meta doesn't feel obligated to fix

In mid-June 2026 Facebook (Meta) carried out one of the largest, though unofficial, cleaning in the history of monetization of creators. In just 24–48 hours thousands, and according to groups and forums, even millions of pages and profiles worldwide have lost their ability to make money from content. Reason? A faulty artificial intelligence system that massively imposed restrictions on "inathentic engagement" – even on creators publishing only original materials and strictly following the principles of the platform.

There is no official message from Meta. There's no mass apology. There's no compensation. However, there is classical silence and automatic support responses, which for months has been operating mainly on AI basis.

What exactly happened?

The authors report the sudden occurrence of infringements of the type "Inauthentic Engagement" or similar restrictions on coining. Many people combine this with a bonus program as part of the monetization of content, Facebook encourage the publication of posts in many groups, offering additional money. The creators extensively shared their content up to 9 groups at once, as the system wanted. AI thought it was spam.

"Partner Monetization Policy

Monetize authentic energy

Creators, publishers and third-party providers can only monetize content consumed by their natural, authentic audience.

Example of things we don’t allow

Any behavior that boosts or amplifies followers, views or engagement for the purpose of generating more revenue"

"Menetisation rules for partners

Monetize authentic interactions

The creators, publishers and external suppliers can coin only content consumed by their natural, authentic group of recipients.

Examples of actions we do not allow

Any action to artificially increase the number of followers, views or interactions to generate greater revenue"

„Our technology detected that your Page displays behavior or content that might inform inauthentic engagement. As a result, your payment account is on hold."

‘Our technology has detected that your website displays behavior or contains content that may indicate non-authentic interactions. Consequently, withdrawals to your account have been suspended."

The problem is that also those who have never used groups, did not buy cocks, did not use bots, and published only original rolls and posts.

Monetization was also blocked on our official profile DigitalNexus.pl on facebook. We also have applications from other creators in Poland, who received such restrictions without giving a reason and possibility of cancellation.

Similar stories flow from India, Brazil and other countries. Channels for YouTube (among others, Alan Beck) and the threads on Reddita (among others, r/facebook) flooded the wave of coverage: "I had 90-150 million views per month and lost monetization", "from $50,000 a month I fell to 2-3 thousand", "even after the coining is restored there is a red flag and reaches and rates fall".

AI Meta: "glitch", which lasts and earns

Meta did not publicly admit that this was a glitch error. But the creators agree: this Glitch AI. The system is so aggressive in the fight against "unoriginal" content (Meta since March 2026 strongly promotes original creators) that he also began punishing the honest ones.

The worst part is what happens next:

  • Even if monetization returns after about 90 days, the account often remains "flagged".
  • Reaches and RPMs (stakes for 1000 ads views) drop dramatically (from approx. $100 for a million views to 2-5 or a maximum of $20-30).
  • Facebook continues to display ads under creator content and earns hundreds of millions of dollars a day.
  • There is no appeal path that works. Support is mostly bots or workers rewriting messages from the ready-made template.

One of Reddite’s popular posts put it: "Even if it was a Glitch AI, will Meta give it to the creators moneyThe money she made in those two days? Nope. That's their money."

"They stole our money" the anger of the creators

In comments and films, there is an ever stronger phrase: Meta just stole money from her creators..

It's not just about the lost future income. The point is:

  • For several days, the platform made money on ads displayed by content that the creators did not pay a cent for.
  • There is no compensation mechanism for system failure.
  • There is no transparency – the creator does not know exactly what he "did wrong" because AI does not provide evidence.
  • Even if the error is corrected, the penalty (lower coverage and rates) remains permanent.

It's not the first time the creators feel cheated by Meta. RPM has been falling avalanchely for months, even though there are more followers. Moving from the old bonus program to the new content monetization system only made the situation worse. Now there has been mass, erroneous demonetization.

What can creators do?

Experienced creators who have already lost tens of thousands of dollars give one advice: don't depend on Facebook monetization.

Instead:

  • Build your own mailing list and community outside the platform.
  • Transfer recipients to YouTubenewsletters, own pages or groups closed.
  • Sell your own products, courses, services – Facebook should be just a tool to build coverage rather than the main source of income.
  • Avoid mass posting into groups (at least for now).

Summary

What happened in the second half of June 2026 is not an ordinary "AI error". This is further proof that Meta treats creators as a interchangeable component of the system that generates data and content for the algorithm. When the system makes a mistake, and it made a mistake on a massive scale, only the creators bear the consequences. Meta does not feel obligated to repair, apologize or compensate.

For millions of people who built their livelihoods on Facebook, it's a painful lesson: platform is not your friend. It is a tool that can be disabled at any time or change the rules of the game and it has no consequences.
