According to estimates from the analytics firm Sensor Tower, GTA 6 has already brought in around $630 million in digital pre-order revenue. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed these figures.
Sensor Tower runs a public GTA VI sales tracker. Citing this data, TweakTown reports that more than 6.45 million digital copies have been sold, amounting to about $630 million. The estimates do not include physical box releases.
Breakdown by Platform
According to the same data, the PlayStation 5 accounts for about 4.8 million copies and $468 million. The Xbox Series X|S accounts for 1.66 million copies and $162 million. That is roughly a 74% to 26% split in favor of Sony’s console.
In August, the same tracker showed, as GameSpot reported, 4.38 million copies and $429 million (data up to August 18, with a 77% to 23% split). Since then, the estimate has risen by about $200 million. The methodology and geographic scope are not clearly described in the publications. A Sensor Tower post cited by some outlets mentions 6.08 million pre-orders in the US and about $594 million.
What the Publisher Says
Take-Two has not published an official order figure. The company described the orders as unprecedented and, after its latest quarterly results, spoke of an “exceptional start” to pre-orders, as RockstarINTEL writes. Official figures do exist in the form of forecasts: Take-Two expects net bookings of $8.0–8.2 billion for fiscal year 2027. The company ties these mainly to the GTA VI launch on November 19, as TweakTown reports, citing the company’s presentation.
Other numbers circulating online should be treated with caution. Viral reports of more than 50 million pre-orders and $4 billion come from a social media post and have no confirmation in the company’s data. The same goes for the claim of a billion dollars in the first hour. It is a model based on Take-Two’s share price behavior, not a sales report.
Analyst estimates, such as those from Newzoo, suggest the first two weeks after launch could bring in between $3.25 and $5.2 billion. This is a forecast, not a result.
What It Means for Players
The game arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, while the PC version does not yet have a date. We wrote about the confirmation of the November release in our article on the confirmation of the November release. The release had been postponed before, which we covered when the date was pushed back. There is no reliable official sales data yet. The first chance for hard numbers will be Take-Two’s financial results after launch.
