The conflict between the United States and Iran has entered a new, dangerous phase. On the night of June 9-10, 2026, US forces carried out precision strikes on Iranian military installations at strategic locations near the Strait of Hormuz.
US Strikes
American forces struck air defence systems, radars and control stations in the area of Jask, Sirik and Qeshm Island. These were key facilities guarding the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz – one of the world’s most important transport arteries for oil.
Iran’s Response
Iran responded quickly. According to statements from the Iranian armed forces, Tehran carried out a drone and ballistic missile attack on American bases in the region, including in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. Iranian media claim that 21 targets were hit. So far, there is no confirmed information about losses among American personnel.
Trump’s Harsh Words
President Donald Trump reacted very firmly. In a published statement he warned:
„If Iran does not want a sensible agreement, we will hit them very hard. We do not intend to tolerate further attacks on our forces and interests.”
Negotiations on the Brink
Despite the escalation, negotiations between the sides continue – through Qatar. For now, however, both sides are far from a compromise. Iran demands the lifting of sanctions and security guarantees, while the US expects a significant limitation of Iran’s missile and nuclear programme.
Experts fear that further escalation could lead to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which would trigger a global energy crisis and a sharp rise in oil prices.
