In Australia, a man suspected of stealing LEGO bricks and other toys worth a total of AU$250,000 has been arrested.
A Massive Haul: Stolen Toys Filling Three Trucks
During a search of an apartment in Royal Park near Adelaide, officers found around 2,500 stolen items, including 1,700 boxed LEGO sets. The haul was so large that three trucks were needed to transport it. Over AU$250,000 (over half a million zloty) makes it one of the largest values recovered in an operation targeting retail theft in the region.
Details of the Arrest and the Suspect
A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft. He is due to appear in court in Port Adelaide at the end of September. Police say the stolen items came from various shops across the city and were to be sold online.
Besides LEGO bricks, officers also found plush toys, water pistols and toy cars from well-known brands such as Pokémon, Barbie, Hello Kitty and Thomas & Friends.
Operation “Measure”, which carries out special preventive and enforcement actions, led to a large number of arrests – around 2,500 people suspected of similar offences since the beginning of the year. As a result, shoplifting in the state fell noticeably, especially by 6% in June.
