Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo has suffered an immense tragedy. His wife Yanina Maranella and two children, 8-year-old son Aaron and daughter Ainhoa, died in a powerful earthquake in Venezuela.
The disaster occurred on June 24, 2026. The building where the Trejo family lived in the coastal town of Playa Grande (La Guaira) collapsed completely. At the time of the earthquake, Lucas was in Caracas, where he was preparing for a match with his team Marítimo de La Guaira.
74 Hours of Desperate Searching
For more than three days, Trejo and rescuers desperately dug through the rubble in hope of finding survivors. The footballer posted dramatic appeals on social media for information about his family.
Unfortunately, after 74 hours of searching, rescuers found the bodies of all three. Lucas’s wife and children died under the rubble of the collapsed building.

The 38-year-old defender has played in Venezuela since 2016. Most recently he played for Marítimo de La Guaira. His family lived with him in Venezuela.
