Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas
During Tuesday’s press conference at the White House, Donald Trump clearly defined the position of the United States toward the Islamist organization Hamas. After a series of talks with Middle Eastern leaders and in the face of fragile ceasefire conditions in the Gaza Strip, Trump announced that Hamas had received a clear ultimatum: disarmament or US intervention.
„If they refuse, we will disarm them ourselves – quickly and perhaps violently,” the president said during a meeting with Argentine leader Javier Milei.
„20-Point Plan” and the Difficult Road to Peace
The American leader claims that Hamas had previously accepted the terms of his „20-point peace plan,” under which it was to give up its weapons and begin the process of rebuilding Gaza. However, so far the organization has not publicly confirmed that it will actually implement the plan.
According to sources at Reuters and ABC News, Trump believes that disarmament is the „key to lasting peace”. Experts, meanwhile, warn that despite the truce and the prisoner exchange, Hamas is still consolidating power in the Gaza Strip and carrying out brutal purges of political rivals.

Analysts note that the announcement of „disarmament by force” may hinder further negotiations and lead to escalating tensions. On the other hand, Trump’s supporters argue that it was precisely this firm stance that brought about an effective truce after two years of bloody conflict. Much now depends on whether Hamas actually takes steps toward disarmament. According to the „Washington Post”, the US president did not, however, set a specific deadline, leaving the fate of the truce „in the hands of reason”.
The Middle East at a Crossroads
The atmosphere in the Gaza Strip is currently tense. Despite American assurances of a „new era of peace”, the media report further executions and unrest. Hamas is strengthening its control, while residents are still waiting for a real improvement in living conditions.
Trump stresses that the goal of his policy is „the reconstruction and stabilization of the region” – but not without „the full demilitarization of terrorist groups”. As he said in one of his interviews: „There will be no peace until the weapons that destroy this peace are gone”.
