Ukraine celebrates Independence Day, sending Ukrainian drone swarms to attack Russian oil refineries.

Ukrainian drones repeatedly attacked the Ust-Luga port and gas processing plant near Saint Petersburg, as well as the oil refinery in Syzran, Samara region.

During the celebrations Independence Day of Ukraine, Ukrainian armed forces executed a series of strikes on strategic Russian petrochemical targets. The operations aimed at "reducing the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor". The aim was, among others, refineries and transhipment terminals that support Russian military operations and exports of energy resources.

Free, democratic and independent Ukraine.

That's what you're fighting for.

That's what we're looking for.

We're with you as long as necessary. Because free Ukraine is free Europe.

Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!

Main targets under attack

  • Refinery in Sisran in the Samar Region, specializing in fuel production for the Russian army
  • Liquefied gas terminal in Ust-Ługa port, key export point for the Russian economy
  • Refinery in Komi, damaged by drones fired from Ukraine at a long distance

Attacks caused fires and explosions, which significantly disrupted the production and distribution of fuels for the Russian armed forces. As a result, some refineries completely stopped production, others halved it, which raises challenges for Russian military logistics.

Russian reaction and loss balance

Russian circuits reported the destruction of tens of Ukrainian drones during defence operations, however, the damage on the Russian infrastructure side is serious. No casualties have been officially reported, but fires and destruction of petrochemical installations force longer repair times and raise maintenance costs of Russian armed forces.
