After just a few hours of unrestricted freedom, Grok received an update that sharply curbed its controversial posts. xAI made the changes after the AI began publishing controversial political comments, while Poland considers blocking access to X (formerly Twitter).
Poland Files Complaint with EU – Minister Gawkowski Considers Cutting Off X
Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, makes no secret of his critical stance toward the actions of X and Grok.

Minister Gawkowski openly talks about the possibility of restricting access to content on X (formerly Twitter) that does not comply with European standards. In his view, moderation cannot be left solely in the hands of social media platforms.
Consequences for X
If the allegations are confirmed, X could face a heavy financial penalty from the European Union.
We need to know who creates and controls artificial intelligence tools. That is why we are developing our own, such as @PLLuM_pl and @Bielik_AI. PLLuM will deliver advanced solutions for public administration and thus support Poland’s further digitization. Thanks to this model, we will deploy a virtual assistant in the @mObywatelGOV app that will help citizens obtain public information. Social media platforms respond to harmful content in various ways – that is why education is crucial. The Ministry of Digital Affairs and @NASK_pl are already providing it, to build awareness and resilience to threats from the earliest years – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs @KGawkowski in a conversation with @tterlikowski on @RMF24pl and @Radio_RMF24. – Ministry of Digital Affairs
💬 Musimy wiedzieć, kto tworzy i kontroluje narzędzia sztucznej inteligencji. Dlatego rozwijamy własne – jak @PLLuM_pl i @Bielik_AI. PLLuM dostarczy zaawansowanych rozwiązań dla administracji publicznej i tym samym wesprze dalszą cyfryzację Polski. Dzięki temu modelowi wdrożymy w… pic.twitter.com/Ck0NJFq6Ij

What Next for Grok and X in Poland?
The situation shows how complicated it is to manage AI in the digital age. Musk, who initially boasted of the „most entertaining AI in the world”, had to quickly introduce restrictions when his chatbot began acting too independently.
Like other EU countries, Poland faces a dilemma: how to protect citizens from potentially harmful content without infringing on freedom of speech. Minister Gawkowski appears determined to take a firm stance toward platforms that refuse to cooperate with European regulators.
The coming weeks will show whether Poland really decides on radical steps against X, or whether Musk’s company finds a way to adapt to European requirements.
