As of Monday, August 17, 2026, fuel in stations will be cheaper even for a buck a litre. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the restoration of the CPN program (Prices of Fuel Lower) in a limited version.
What's changing?
The government has decided to reduction of VAT on fuels from 23% to 8%. The price of petrol and diesel will fall by 90 grosz to 1 zł per litre.
The programme will apply:
- Monday 17 August
- until and including 31 August 2026
Details
The Prime Minister stressed that the decision is a response to rising oil prices in global markets. As in previous editions of the program, the energy minister will be able to announce maximum fuel prices at stations.
– We have decided to restore the CPN program in a limited version. It is specifically about reducing VAT from 23 to 8 percent. This will lower fuel prices from 90 gr to a buck per litre," said Donald Tusk.
Background
This is another government intervention in fuel prices. Previously, the CPN programme (with a reduction in VAT and excise duty) was to stabilise the prices at stations. The current version is shorter and only covers a reduction in VAT.
Drivers can expect significantly lower prices from next Monday until the end of the holiday.
