An unusual and shocking traffic incident occurred on Zgody Street in Piaseczno. A 43-year-old Ukrainian national, leaving a car park, struck a bus standing at a bus stop twice.
A breathalyser test showed the woman had over 2.5 per mille of alcohol in her exhaled breath. It also turned out that she did not have a driving licence.
When police arrived at the scene, the woman openly offered to „arrange the matter”. She said she was a lawyer, earned a lot of money and that there was „no point making a problem, because everything can be arranged”. She tried to bribe the officers into abandoning their official duties.
When the officers informed her that her behaviour showed the hallmarks of an offence under Article 229 of the Penal Code (bribery), the woman began to insult them. It later emerged that she is not a lawyer and works in a completely different profession.
The driver was detained. Her car was taken to a police impound car park. The woman was placed under police supervision. The investigation is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Piaseczno. The Piaseczno court will soon decide on her further fate.
Driving while intoxicated, endangering road traffic, driving without a licence, insulting police officers and attempted corruption carry a prison sentence of many years.
