A Fugitive on the Construction Site
Jacek Jaworek – almost all of Poland knew this name. After the triple murder in Borowce in July 2021, the man literally vanished into thin air. Police, supported by specialist services and technology straight out of the series “CSI”, searched the area and launched manhunts involving dogs, drones and hundreds of officers. The story never left the news – Europol, Interpol, wanted notices and age-progressed portraits. The chase lasted three years.
Renovations in Hiding Instead of Life on the Run
The biggest turn in the case came unexpectedly: it emerged that Jaworek had been hiding for more than two years in his aunt’s house in Dąbrowa Zielona, several dozen kilometres from the scene of the crime. And he didn’t just sit idle – he carried out… renovations!

Breakthrough Evidence and Charges for 75-Year-Old Teresa D.
Teresa D. led an outwardly ordinary life: she went to the shop and met with the victims’ families to comfort relatives. Meanwhile, the man Europe was searching for, a murderer, was hiding in her house. Evidence such as recordings from Jaworek’s smartwatch from March 2023 (in which Jaworek filmed himself and named himself) and Jaworek’s fingerprints on her phones proved to be a breakthrough in the investigation. Handwritten notes by the man with a list of materials and a work schedule were found in the house.
The course of Jaworek’s concealment according to the prosecution
The 75-year-old Teresa D. has been charged by prosecutors with actively helping to conceal her nephew, a suspect in the triple murder in Borowce.
Prosecutors have gathered a number of pieces of evidence indicating that Jacek Jaworek stayed at Teresa D.’s house for much longer than she claimed during questioning. Initially, she maintained that her nephew had appeared only on 1 November 2023 and stayed for a few months. However, subsequent findings and expert analyses contradict her version of events.
Why Did Teresa D. Hide Jaworek?
During questioning, Teresa D. stated that she did not inform anyone about her nephew’s presence out of fear for her own life. Jacek Jaworek allegedly had a weapon throughout this time, and her fears seemed justified. However, prosecutors did not believe this explanation, stressing that the woman led a normal life during this period, including shopping and meeting the victims’ families.
What Does the Charge Carry?
Teresa D. will stand trial for obstructing criminal proceedings by concealing the perpetrator of a murder. This offence carries a penalty of 3 months to 5 years’ imprisonment. The woman was initially held in temporary custody, but in September 2024 the court released her from custody.
The End of the Case
In July 2024, Jaworek’s body was found in Dąbrowa Zielona. DNA tests confirmed his identity – he took his own life using the same weapon he used in the crime.
