We sleep longer tomorrow! Change of time on Sunday

Tomorrow we have a well-known annual change of time for winter. At night from Saturday to Sunday, we withdraw watches, gaining an extra hour of sleep!

When exactly is the change in time?

The change of time to winter in 2025 occurs at night from 25 to 26 October. At 3:00, we're taking back the clocks at 2:00. That means on Sunday we can sleep an hour longer! Most smartphones and computers will switch themselves, but traditional watches are worth checking manually.

Why do we keep changing time?

Returning to winter time is the result of an EU regulation which is still in force in all Community countries. The change is supposed to allow better use of daylight. In summer we save energy, in winter we enjoy a brighter morning. Although there is a debate on whether such a solution is still needed, for now we need to adapt to switching clocks.

List of things to do when changing time

  • Undo the watch by an hour – from 3:00 to 2:00
  • Check analog alarms and clocks in the car
  • Update schedules if you work at night or have meetings with international counterparties
  • Inform older people and children not to be surprised by the changes in the rhythm of the day

How does changing time affect our body?

Changing time is not just an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning. Shifting watches can disrupt the biological rhythm. You may feel sleepy for a few days or decrease in concentration. Experts advise – try to get a little calmer activity in the evening, avoid bright light and screens to move the biological clock more smoothly. If you have children or a sensitive rhythm of the day, for several days you will gradually shift your bedtime time.

Smart patents for a smoother transition:

  • Go to sleep 10 minutes later each day for a week before changing
  • Use an extra hour to relax instead of catching up.
  • Spend some time outside, catching a natural light

Curiosities about changing time

  • For the first time a change of time was introduced in Germany, in 1916
  • The debate on the end of time changes has been going on for years, but until 2026 we are still waiting to reverse the guidelines
  • Change of time for winter always falls on the last weekend of October

Will the change of time be abolished?

Many Europeans have had enough of this archaic custom. The European Union has considered abolishing changes in time - but binding decisions have still not been made and we will be moving clocks every year.

The change of time for winter in Poland is already this night – from 25 to 26 October. Take back the directions and use the extra hour to rest. As every year, some are easily adapted, others need a few days – so sleep well and come in a rested week!

It will be 100 years and the EU will still not withdraw this stupid change of time. In my opinion, summer time should apply all year.
