The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued an urgent public warning about glasses on sale. Lead and cadmium, toxic substances that should not come into contact with food and drinks, were found migrating from the rim of the product.
The warning concerns glasses placed on the market by the Polish distributor KIK Textil Sp. z o.o. (Wrocław). The product’s country of origin is China.
Which batches are dangerous?
The warning applies to glasses with the following batch markings:
- 251216-3 12212075631003000100
- P278285 – 1221207/003
If you have glasses at home with these numbers, do not use them for drinking or for contact with food.

Why is this dangerous?
Lead and cadmium are heavy metals that can accumulate in the human body. Long-term exposure to these substances can lead to serious health problems, particularly in children, pregnant women and the elderly. That is why GIS has issued a clear recommendation: do not use these glasses for drinking beverages or eating meals.
What happened?
The product was withdrawn from sale as a precaution. Further investigations and tests are ongoing. Bodies of the State Sanitary Inspection (PIS) are monitoring the withdrawal process.
What should you do if you have such glasses?
- Do not use them for coffee, tea, juice or any other drinks.
- Do not serve meals to children in them.
- You can throw them away or take them to a hazardous waste collection point (although in practice most people simply throw them into regular household waste, as there is no obligation to return them).
