Imagine the director of an educational facility making a fortune over overtime. In Kindergarten No. 10 in Nysa, Director Sylwia Wardakas was to work almost 2,000 hours above the norm in two years, collecting over 120 thousand PLN. The case broke out after anonymous reports – control is ongoing.
Facts about overtime
Data comes from the report of the association "Nysa looks". In 2024 Wardakas counted 994 overtime and replacements, which gave her PLN 64,870. A year later, in 2025, there were 981 hours for PLN 56 500.
That means extra more than 6 hours a day on working days. How is that possible in one kindergarten? The director explains staff shortages and childcare for children with disabilities.
Charges from employees
An anonymous complaint from teachers and staff shook Nysa. They say they were the ones doing the replacements, and the salary was taken by the boss. There have been accusations of mobbing and humiliation.
- The employees were supposed to clean the principal's house.
- They felt abused and forced into overtime without payment.
- The case went to the city office and the council.
Response from authorities and politicians
The Municipal Board of Education is in control. Staff surveys and document analysis were conducted. Mayor Kordian Colbiar promises decisions after the end.
Councilman Bartholomew Dict made an interview. He points out that the director can only substitute for exceptions. Another councillor, Sławomir Siwy, wanted a debate at the session – without effect.
The voice of the principal
Any accusations that appear on social media are information that is false. The hours that are worked out by my person are due to staff shortages in the facility, as well as extended practice, which we run as a kindergarten, i.e. we work with disabled children and enter into adventure and therapy there. I'm sure no irregularities have occurred. I'm calm, but what's happening in the media is terrible.
Sylvia Wardakas definitely denies it. "These are condescending in my name," he says. She filed a notice with the D.A.'s office and complains about hate online.
It stresses that hours arise from real needs: shortages of staff and therapy for children. "I am calm because everything is legal," he adds in a conversation with the media.
What's next in Nysa?
The case shows problems in educational finance. Overtime is a common subject, but such a scale raises questions about supervision. We are waiting for the results of checks – they can change everything in this small kindergarten.
