Imagine a school director earning a fortune on overtime. At Kindergarten No. 10 in Nysa, director Sylwia Wardakas allegedly logged nearly 2,000 hours above the norm over two years, earning over PLN 120,000. The case erupted after anonymous reports, and an audit is underway.
Facts About the Overtime
The data comes from a report by the association “Nysa patrzy” (Nysa Is Watching). In 2024, Wardakas settled 994 hours of excess time and substitute work, earning PLN 64,870. A year later, in 2025, it was 981 hours for PLN 56,500.
That amounts to an additional more than 6 hours a day on working days. How is this possible in a single kindergarten? The director explains it by staff shortages and the care of children with disabilities.
Allegations From Staff
An anonymous complaint from teachers and staff has shaken Nysa. They claim that they were the ones doing the substitute work, while the boss pocketed the pay. Accusations of mobbing and humiliation have also surfaced.

Reaction From Authorities and Politicians

Councillor Bartłomiej Dykta has filed an interpellation. He stresses that a director may only substitute for staff in exceptional cases. Another councillor, Sławomir Siwy, wanted a debate at the council session, but to no avail.
The Director Responds
All the accusations appearing on social media are untrue. The hours I have worked result from staff shortages at the facility, as well as from the extended practice we run as a kindergarten, which means we work with children with disabilities, who take part in adventure and therapy there. I am certain that no irregularities took place. I am calm, but what is happening in the media is something terrible.
Sylwia Wardakas firmly denies the claims. “These are slanders harming my name,” she says. She has filed a notification with the prosecutor’s office and complains about online hate.
She stresses that the hours stem from real needs: staff shortages and therapy for children. “I am calm, because everything is in line with the law,” she adds in an interview with the media.
