Disappearance of Emilia Koprowska: prosecutors reveal direction of investigation

More than two months have passed since 37-year-old Emilia Koprowska disappeared in Darłowo, and her whereabouts remain unknown. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Koszalin is investigating abuse resulting in a suicide attempt, stressing that this is a preliminary classification.

Prosecutors revealed the direction of the proceedings on October 30. The spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Koszalin, prosecutor Ewa Dziadczyk, said that proceedings were opened for abuse resulting in a suicide attempt. As o2.pl reported, the spokeswoman explained that the investigation was opened in this direction because „it is no secret that things were not going well between the spouses”. She also stressed that the classification is preliminary and may change, and that investigators are not ruling out any scenario.

What is known about the disappearance

Emilia Koprowska, a resident of Koszalin, disappeared on August 30 in Darłowo. She was there with her husband at a techno music festival. According to accounts so far, after an argument she walked away and did not return. The disappearance was reported to police on September 1. Initially the police handled the case, and as o2.pl reports, the prosecutor’s office opened the investigation on September 23.

Phone and backpack

During the search, the woman’s phone was found lying on the dunes, and later her backpack with keys and toiletries was found abandoned in a field near Darłowo. According to „Gazeta Koszalińska”, the phone could not be unlocked, although the police were reportedly able to recover some messages. The prosecutor’s office has not disclosed what they show. Investigators also searched the missing woman’s husband’s apartment, which the spokeswoman confirmed as an action related to the case.

The husband has been questioned; according to earlier information he is involved in the case as a witness, and no charges have been brought against anyone. He also voluntarily underwent a polygraph test, which the prosecutor’s office did not order and which is not direct evidence. The spokeswoman urged caution in assessments and reminded that at this stage there is no basis for drawing conclusions about responsibility for the woman’s disappearance.

New search leads

Two months after the disappearance, a team from the Rutkowski Bureau, as Świat Gwiazd reports, found a pontoon boat and documents near Lake Wicko, which a tracking dog led them to. According to unofficial information cited by this outlet, investigators concluded that the pontoon may belong to anglers. The find has not been confirmed by the prosecutor’s office as related to the case.

What next

As we reported, the prosecutor’s office returned the case file to police with a list of actions to be carried out by November 15; the scope of the instructions has not been disclosed. We wrote about this in the article about the deadline set for police to carry out new actions. The deadline does not mean the end of the investigation.

Police released a description of the missing woman: at the time of her disappearance she was wearing white jeans, a white T-shirt with the word „Cherry”, a black leather jacket and white Big Star sneakers. Distinguishing marks include a Pisces zodiac sign tattooed from her ribs to her hip and a name tattooed on a finger of her right hand. Anyone who saw the woman or has information about her fate should contact the police, preferably via the emergency number 112. As of publication, the prosecutor’s office has not provided new findings regarding the phone or announced a further statement.
