Bonnie Tyler is dead. Legendary singer died at age 75

Bonnie Tyler died., one of the most recognizable singers of the 1980s and 1990s. Artist, known primarily for her hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart", she left yesterday (8 July) in Portugal. She was 75.

Bonnie Tyler's family released an official statement announcing the death of the singer. At the same time, she asked to respect privacy at this difficult moment. Details of the cause of death have not yet been provided.

Short biography

Bonnie Tyler (actually Gaynor Hopkins-Sullivan) was born on June 8, 1951 in Skewen, Wales. She made her debut in 1976 with the hit "Lost in France", and world fame brought her songs:

  • "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (1983)
  • "Holding Out for a Hero" (1984 – soundtrack for film Footloose)
  • "It’s a Heartache"

In 2013, she represented Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2023 she was decorated with the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her merit for music.

In recent months, the artist has struggled with serious health problems. In May 2025 she underwent urgent bowel surgery, followed by an ICU and was introduced into a pharmacological coma. She was awakened from her coma in June, but her condition was still severe.
