Stanisław Chomski, coach of the Polish speedway national team, is drawing considerable interest from internet users on Thursday, 29 October, following reports about the team’s coach for 2027. This concerns speedway, not football.
Coach since November 2025
Chomski was announced as coach of the Polish Speedway National Team on 21 November 2025, a month after Rafał Dobrucki resigned. As Interia reported, the then 68-year-old coach had already worked with the team two decades earlier and won a gold medal with it at the Speedway World Cup.
In an interview with Interia, Chomski said at the time: „I signed a one-year contract with an option to extend it.” He added that, while still at the inquiry stage, he had spoken with Bartosz Zmarzlik, a six-time world champion.
What about the 2027 season
Radar data shows that on Thursday morning searches for Chomski’s name on Google rose sharply (to over 200), coinciding with reports that he had officially been appointed national team coach for 2027. As of publication, we have not found a statement from the Polish Motor Union (PZM) specifying the terms of cooperation: the contract length, the composition of the coaching staff, or the team’s racing schedule.
It is only known that the original contract covered one year with an option to extend, so the decision on another season rested with the federation and the coach.
What it means
For speedway fans, this means that the person responsible for leading the national team in the coming season, including in team events, is someone who knows the team from its previous tenure. Details, including any changes to the coaching staff, should follow from a PZM statement.
