Katy Perry reacted sharply to the use of her song "Firework" by the official White House account on TikTok. The recording showed U.S. military attacks on targets in Iran, and a piece of the song with a distinctive "boom, boom, boom" – was synchronized with explosions.
The White House entry on TikToku had a signature: "Iran has been warned" ("Iran was warned").
Singer's Statement
Perry wrote on platform X:
"I am deeply outraged and angry to see that the "Firework" was used in the TikTok White House account as a foundation for military attack films. I didn't agree to it, no one asked me, and I absolutely don't approve."
She added that she wrote this song as an anthem of hope, healing and inner strength for people passing through the darkest moments of life.
"Using the message of self-esteem and support as a soundtrack to destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song represents. My music is meant to connect people, not celebrate war."
Background
The White House recording quickly gained millions of views. After Perry's reaction, the sound from the original post was removed.
The case fits into a broader trend – earlier other artists also criticized the administration for using their works in propaganda materials without consent.
