One of the oldest dogs in the world is dead. He was 30 and 5 months old.

On May 14, 2026, Lazare left in France – dog The peagneul papillon (papillon) breed, which for the last year has been considered one of the oldest living dogs in the world.

The animal died at age 30 years and 5 months in the veterinary centre of Allonzier-la-Caille (Haute-Savoie). He left peacefully in the arms of his new sitter Anne-Sophie Moyon, a spa shelter staff in Annecy.

Lazare was born December 4, 1995. He lived with his first owner for almost a lifetime. After her death, he went to a shelter where his age (confirmed by microchip and French records) sparked a great interest in the media. The hostel even made efforts to enter it in the Guinness Book of Records.

In April 2026, Lazare was adopted by a younger woman who promised him worthy of the last weeks of her life. Unfortunately, the condition of the dog (he was already deaf, almost blind, had arthritis and problems with urinary incontinence) deteriorated very quickly.

History Lazare’s world was around – it became a symbol of longevity and hope for seniors in the animal world. His departure is regretted by thousands of netizens who followed the fate of the dog on social media.

Rest in peace, Lazare. ❤️
