On May 14, 2026, Lazare left in France – dog The peagneul papillon (papillon) breed, which for the last year has been considered one of the oldest living dogs in the world.
The animal died at age 30 years and 5 months in the veterinary centre of Allonzier-la-Caille (Haute-Savoie). He left peacefully in the arms of his new sitter Anne-Sophie Moyon, a spa shelter staff in Annecy.
Lazare was born December 4, 1995. He lived with his first owner for almost a lifetime. After her death, he went to a shelter where his age (confirmed by microchip and French records) sparked a great interest in the media. The hostel even made efforts to enter it in the Guinness Book of Records.
