The latest batch of documents published today on the government site https://www.war.gov/UFO/ includes a sensational report from the technical debriefing of the Apollo 11 crew. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins describe a mysterious „brighter object” that flew past their spacecraft during the flight to the Moon.
The document Apollo 11 Technical Crew Debriefing, dated July 31, 1969 (volumes 1 and 2), has just been declassified as part of President Donald Trump’s PURSUE program. It is another „piece” of UFO/UAP material that has been entering the public domain since yesterday, alongside FBI files from the 1960s.
Buzz Aldrin (lunar module pilot) describes it directly:
„We noticed this one brighter object flying past… it looked like a hollow cylinder… you could see straight into its interior… the shape of an open book. It was really strange.”
The crew used a monocular because the object had „considerable dimensions”. At first they speculated it might be the S-IVB stage of the Saturn V rocket, but the description of a „hollow cylinder” and an „open book” left the impression of something unusual.
Three unusual observations by the Apollo 11 crew
The report highlights three specific events:
- Page 6-33 (Volume 1) – Object on the way to the Moon (about 1 day from the target): „The first unusual thing we saw was this, about 1 day out or something close to the Moon. It had considerable dimensions, so we used a monocular.”
- Page 6-37 (Volume 1) – Flashes of light inside the cabin: „Another observation I made built up gradually… I was trying to sleep with the lights off. I noticed what I took to be small flashes inside the cabin, spaced every few minutes…”
- Page 21-1 (Volume 2) – Bright light source on the return trip: „I noticed what seemed to be a fairly bright light source, which we initially attributed to a possible laser.”
The document contains no final explanation and does not classify these events as „extraterrestrial”. NASA and the crew treated them as „unusual observations”, but did not report them as a threat.
Context and reactions
These are not the first reports of unusual phenomena from Apollo astronauts, but this is the first time such a detailed technical debriefing has entered the official, declassified PURSUE database. A post on platform X by the account @InterstellarUAP, quoting Aldrin, spread rapidly and has already gathered hundreds of thousands of views, with the comment: „These are CRAZY things! We are not alone.”
UFO enthusiasts point out that the „hollow cylinder” description matches classic reports of cylinder-shaped or „cigar” objects. Skeptics remind us that optical illusions, reflections or rocket debris are easy to mistake for something else in space.
The White House and the Department of War announce further batches of documents in the coming days. Hundreds of pages are already available at war.gov/UFO/, including yesterday’s FBI files about „four-foot beings”.
