On Saturday at around 1:00 p.m., services discovered a gruesome find in one of the detached houses on Platanowa Street in Rybnik. Inside the building, the bodies of two men aged 68 and 41 were found. The bodies bore no visible external injuries. On the prosecutor’s decision, they were secured for an autopsy, and the police are conducting explanatory activities.
Unofficial information indicates that the deceased are a former prosecutor of the Katowice Court of Appeal’s Prosecutor’s Office, Jerzy H., and his son. The men lived together in this house. Jerzy H. was previously sentenced to an unconditional prison term for defrauding 1.7 million zloty. The scandal broke in 2002 after a publication in „Newsweek”.
The investigation revealed that between 1993 and 2002, the prosecutor allegedly pressured entrepreneurs from Silesia and the Zagłębie region to „support” the prosecutor’s office under the pretext of purchasing equipment. In reality, the money ended up in his pocket, while the companies received fictitious invoices. The prosecutor’s lifestyle – a luxury BMW and a house in Rybnik – drastically exceeded his official earnings.
The deceased son also had previous run-ins with the law. For now, no details are known about the causes of death of the two men. The statement from the Rybnik City Police Command only confirms the discovery of two bodies and the absence of injuries. The autopsy is expected to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
