The Israeli Air Force carried out intensive airstrikes on key targets of the Houthi rebels in Yemen, in response to advanced attempts to launch drone and missile attacks against Israel.
Background to the Israel-Houthi conflict
Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip in 2023, the Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, have regularly carried out missile and drone attacks against Israel. Despite the efforts of Israeli air defenses, some projectiles reach their targets, which forces a decisive response from Israel. The rebels declare these actions as support for Palestine.
Course of the Israeli airstrikes on Yemen
The Houthis claim that their air defenses managed to neutralize most of the Israeli aircraft taking part in the aggression.
As a result of the attacks, at least 2 people were killed and 5 were injured.
The main targets attacked were the presidential palace and a military complex.
Israel used the military response as a defensive measure against the growing threat, stressing the need to end the terrorist activity of the Houthis.
