Israel is refusing to allow the construction of a key military facility in the Gaza Strip for Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, the Guardian has learned, citing an anonymous source. The base is meant to house 150 international soldiers.
What the Guardian Found
As the Guardian reports, Israel has not permitted the implementation of a US-led project meant to provide accommodation for 150 international force soldiers. The information comes from a source whom the newspaper did not name.
The Board of Peace, an international organisation authorised by the UN in 2025, reportedly commissioned the construction of the facility as early as the beginning of August, according to the British daily. At that time, as the Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote, citing the Guardian, the contract concerned a base for 150 Moroccan soldiers.
Background: The Base as a First Stage
According to Haaretz, this was the first phase of a plan for a larger base that would ultimately accommodate up to 5,000 soldiers of the International Stabilisation Force. These forces are provided for by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of 17 November 2025 and the peace plan for Gaza, which took effect on 10 October 2025.
The blockade means that deploying the stabilisation forces, one of the pillars of the plan, currently has no physical base of operations in the Strip.
