Eric Bauza, voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, dies suddenly at 46

Eric Bauza, an Emmy-winning American-Canadian voice actor and the modern voice of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in “Looney Tunes”, has died. His family announced his sudden death on Sunday, October 25; he was 46.

The family shared news of the artist’s death in a statement published on his official Instagram account. It described Bauza as “an Emmy Award-winning voice and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters – Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, as well as dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, who has passed away suddenly”. It added that “more details will be shared later”.

Warner Bros. Television Group president Channing Dungey said, as quoted by Deadline, that the actor “followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc”, the first voice of the “Looney Tunes” characters.

Cause of death

The family did not give a cause of death in its statement. According to Variety, which cites documents from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, Bauza died at home on Sunday from hypertensive cardiovascular disease. The information comes from those documents, not from the family.

Who was Eric Bauza

He was born on December 7, 1979, in Scarborough, a district of Toronto, according to Variety. The same source says he had more than 400 roles to his name; the first was in the series “The Ripping Friends” in 2001. Screencrush notes that his first voice role was Stimpy in “Ren & Stimpy: Adult Cartoon Party” from 2003, and that he became associated with “Looney Tunes” through “The Looney Tunes Show” from 2011, where he played Marvin the Martian.

Over time he added more characters: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn and Pepé Le Pew. According to Variety, he appeared in “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, the series “Looney Tunes Cartoons” and this year’s film “Coyote vs. Acme”. He also lent his voice to, among others, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, “Chowder” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”. The Parade portal also lists Puss in Boots from “The Adventures of Puss in Boots” and young Fozzie from “Muppet Babies”. In DC and Marvel productions he voiced, among others, the Flash, Mr. Freeze and Aquaman, as ComingSoon.net writes.

Awards

Parade reports that in 2022 Bauza won the first-ever Children’s and Family Emmy for Outstanding Voice Acting in an Animated Program, for “Looney Tunes Cartoons”. He received two more statuettes, in 2023 for “Bugs Bunny Builders” and in 2025 for “Teen Titans Go!”. Deadline calls him a three-time Emmy winner.

It is worth noting that he shared the role of Bugs Bunny with other actors. Parade names Jeff Bergman among them.

Family

According to Parade, Bauza is survived by his wife Jessica, whom he married in 2016, and by a son.

What it means for viewers in Poland

The classic “Looney Tunes” cartoons are known to successive generations of viewers in Poland, and newer productions featuring Bauza, such as “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and “Coyote vs. Acme”, are available in cinemas and streaming services. Polish language versions have their own voice actors, so Bauza’s voice is mainly heard in the original soundtrack. As of publication, the family has not announced funeral arrangements.
